How To Make Homemade Wax

Waxing is a fantastic way to remove unwanted hair for a longer period of time. Whether you visit a beauty salon, or you use wax strips at home yourself, it really is one of the best ways to remove all hair right from its root.

Plus it is one of the oldest forms of hair removal, dating back to the Egyptian times.

But have you ever wondered how easy it is to make your own wax? To save on trips to the salon or spend money on wax strips?

Plus you probably have most of the ingredients required in your home already.

Still unsure? Well, read on to see just how easy it is!

What do you need for your homemade wax?

To make your natural homemade wax all you need are:

  • Lemons
  • Honey
  • Sugar

And that’s it! To make your very own wax, all you need is sugar, lemons and honey. We said you’d probably have those ingredients at home and they’re cheap too - bonus!

Aside from the ingredients, you’re also going to need a glass saucepan, a hob, a jar with a lid, and a cup to measure the right amount of ingredients.

Steps to make your homemade wax

First, you need to measure out your ingredients:

  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup of honey
  • The juice of half a lemon

Stir these ingredients together, and then place the saucepan with the stirred ingredients onto the hob and bring to the boil, stirring continuously.

Then remove the mixture from the heat and pour into a glass jar and allow to cool.

By applying it into a glass jar, if you don’t use the whole mixture you can then save the unused wax for next time.

How to use your homemade wax

Apply the wax to the area you are wanting to get rid of unwanted hair. Apply with either a spatula or a knife and coat the area in the opposite of the direction of hair growth.

Apply pressure to the wax so it picks up all the hairs and then pull off, et voila you’ll be left with smooth, hair-free skin.

This particular type of wax is great for those who have sensitive skin or find soft waxing too painful.

Hard waxing (sugar waxing) is a natural way to remove your unwanted hair, without as much pain, because it works to be more gentle on the skin, and without any chemicals that can be found in soft wax. There is less mess and no need for cloth strips to pull the wax and hairs off the skin, you simply peel back the sugar wax to reveal, soft and smooth skin.

Make sure you apply a soothing lotion to the skin once you’ve finished waxing, to reduce associated redness such as our FRÉNÉSIES Body cream, that contains White Willow to help soothe and calm the skin, plus the cream will also work to permanently get rid of your unwanted hair when waxing.

FRÉNÉSIES Body cream is a scientifically designed cream that includes natural active ingredients to provide you with permanent hair removal results and is a proven way to naturally stop hair growth unlike any other product currently on the market.
